Mont blanc explorer offers a smaller bottle and it is a great-safe alternative - no harsh opening, notes are balanced and smokiness not overwhelming.

I haven't tried to OG, but I feel that Montblanc Explorer is a toned down and smoother version of CDNIM EDT.
